After a strong weekend in Barrington, defeating Plymouth 8-2 Saturday and then host Barrington 11-0 in five innings on Sunday (see full write up on the weekend here - https://dailyuv.com/profile/1380/962328), the 12U all-stars beat a tough, well-coached Gilford team 5-0, behind Dawson Bates' complete game gem on the mound. In route to the shutout win, Bates surrendered only two hits and two walks while striking out nine. The heart of the batting order carried the load again, with six of Lebanon's eight hits coming from the first four hitters in the lineup. Zachary Aldrich and Bates each had two hits, and Bodie Benoit, Dominic Petkus, Cayden Van Dolah and Sam Bates all had one hit apiece. Dawson Bates, Benoit, Petkus, Van Dolah and Sam Bates each had one RBI. Lebanon took a one-run lead in the first after Zachary Aldrich reached base with a lead-off triple, and Dawson Bates scored him with a line drive single up the middle. Gilford's starting pitcher then struck out the side and held Lebanon's offense scorless through the next two innings, striking out five hitters on the day. After he exited the game, Lebanon's offense got rolling, scoring two two-out runs in the fifth on consecutive RBI singles by Van Dolah and Sam Bates. Lebanon added two more in the sixth on an Aldrich double, a Dawson Bates single, a Benoit sacrifice fly, and a Petkus double. Lebanon will play the winner of the loser's bracket championship between Gilford and Barrington, which will be played Thursday night. The championship game is scheduled for a 5:30 pm start in Barrington, NH at the Barrington Youth Association, Field A.
