Lebanon defeats Claremont to earn District 1 title.

The Lebanon Cal Ripken 12U All-Star team advanced to the state tournament by beating Claremont in a best-of-three District 1 playoff, winning 9-1 on Wednesday in Claremont and 10-0 on Thursday in Lebanon. Lebanon’s pitchers gave up six hits and five walks while striking out fourteen batters in ten innings, and the rest of the defense did not give up an earned run. Sam Bates, Zach Thompson and Bennett Hewett combined on the mound for the win Wednesday, while Dawson Bates and Zach Aldrich worked the combined no-hitter on Thursday night. Offensively, Lebanon had 20 hits in the two games, getting significant contributions of quality at-bats from up and down the lineup. Dominic Petkus hit three home runs in his five at-bats in the series, and Bodie Benoit added a three-run walk-off homer in the fourth inning of Thursday night’s game to secure the team’s spot in the NH Cal Ripken 12U Major 60 State Tournament, which starts on Saturday, June 30th in Barrington, NH. Lebanon will play the District 8 Champions (TBD) at 12:30 pm on Field B at the Barrington Youth Association fields on Smoke Road in Barrington, NH.
